A Strategic Approach to Innovation: driving business and economies

March 6, 2015 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am

Innovation is a key driver in business success. Disruptive strategies, such as Apple’s, completely change industries and innovative companies anticipate future trends to meet future demand, whilst also responding to current market drivers. The City Vitals, globally recognised as essential for long-term economic growth, also places innovation as one of the four key elements to a city’s success.

But innovation isn’t always easy. It is fraught with risk and expense with no guarantees of success. So while innovation is vital on the one hand, companies are moving too slowly to embrace it on the other. Globally competitive countries embed innovation into their strategies and South Africa’s 53rd ranking on the Global Innovation Index 2014 indicates that it’s time for a strategic approach to overcome the challenges..

Join us for an engaging session with David Silverstein, Global CEO of BMGI, and Valter Adão, Lead Director at Monitor Deloitte Africa. David will discuss global innovation approaches, what works, what doesn’t and how South Africa can leverage innovation to solve seemingly intractable challenges. Valter will then share some of the opportunities and challenges experienced in innovation across the African continent.
