Annual General Meeting 2015 with Trevor Ncube

As a business leadership organisation, Accelerate Cape Town aims to facilitate senior level engagements, advocate on behalf of business and stimulate robust discussion to advance economic development.
Our AGM will look at Accelerate Cape Town’s year in review, the key challenges for South Africa and our continued focus to ensure economic growth in the Cape Town city region. Our keynote speaker, Trevor Ncube, will share his perspectives on South Africa’s challenges and prospects in the next five years, and his views on what is required to move the country forward inclusively.
Trevor Ncube is Chairman of Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) based in Zimbabwe, a company he co-founded 18 years ago, which owns four Zimbabwean newspaper titles. He is also controlling shareholder and Executive Deputy Chairman of the Mail & Guardian Media Group (South Africa). Ncube has a BA Honours from the University of Zimbabwe and started working in journalism in 1989.
In 2010, Ncube was bestowed the Nation Media Group Life Achievement Award for his work in media on the African continent. NewAfrican Magazine named him among the 100 most influential people in Africa in 2012/2013 and in 2013 he was named as one of the most influential business people in Zimbabwe since 1980. Ncube is chairman of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Informed Societies and of the African Media Initiative (AMI) a continent wide organization focusing on strengthening the sectors viability and enhancing its professionalism.
