CEO Panel SA Innovation Summit: Policies for innovation to thrive

Innovation is a key focus for Accelerate Cape Town and with the SA Innovation Summit (SAIS) being hosted in Cape Town for the first time, we are partnering with SAIS to bring you the CEO Panel Discussion on 17 Sept 2014.
The SA Innovation Summit aspires to raise awareness in innovation, facilitate collaboration and contribute to building the national system of innovation. The CEO Panel Discussion will focus on ‘The Connection between Science and Profit’ and includes Richard Okine, DuPont’s Regional Director of Sub-Saharan Africa and Tim Schweikert, President and CEO of GE South Africa. Both companies have made recent investments in South Africa in terms of research, development and innovation – global companies seeing the importance of local innovation. Dr Francis Petersen from the National Advisory Council of Innovation will be the panel moderator.
About Richard Okine
Originally from Ghana, Richard is DuPont’s Regional Director of Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). He has spent his whole career at DuPont, starting with engineering and research and subsequently moving into roles that combined his technical expertise with management. He has done substantial work around fuel cells and renewable energy.
About Tim Schweikert
Originally from the US, Tim has been President & Chief Executive Officer of GE South Africa and President & Chief Executive Officer of GE Transportation, Sub-Saharan Africa since February 2012. His role has been to provide strategic leadership and drive business growth as well as to expand the GE footprint and penetration primarily in Transportation, Healthcare, and skills training in all southern African countries within GE Africa.
