Thought Leaders | Western Cape ESD Partnership: Collaborative ESD
February 19 @ 7:30 am - 10:30 am
The Western Cape ESD Partnership was founded on the principles of collaboration and co-creation. There is enormous benefit to be gained from working collaboratively, to not only benefit from economies of scale, but also leverage collective experience and best practice methodologies.
Collaborative ESD relationships are characterised by shared goals, supplier development, and integration of business processes. They allow collaborating firms to realise benefits which they could otherwise not achieve individually. Given current turbulent and uncertain markets, there are numerous reasons for pursuing collaborative value chain relationships, however corporate practitioners need to take cognisance of the Competition Act and understand the difference between potential collaboration to strengthen ESD suppliers and collusion which could destroy them.
The objectives of this session will be:
- To understand from the Competition Commission (legal) perspective what is considered anti-competitive collusion vs. much-needed collaboration
- To signal to the Competition Commission that corporates wish to collaborate around ESD and that we require their support in order to do so effectively
- To identify any legislative constraints that may need to be reviewed/revised with respect to unblocking future ESD collaboration.
Join us as we hear from Sipho Mtombeni, Principal Analyst at The Competition Commission of South Africa, followed by an interactive panel discussion with Lyndon Isaacs, Group Procurement Manager at Distell and Zinzi Mgolodela, Head of Corporate Affairs at Woolworths.
