Welcome to Cape Town

As part of our Human Capital Programme, Accelerate Cape Town has identified, an issue with the retention of staff of our member companies as they relocate to Cape Town from other parts of South Africa and internationally.  To assist with this issue, Accelerate Cape Town conceptualised and launched Welcome to Cape Town, an engagement for senior relocated talent. This event forms part of a series of engagements which supports our members’ Human Capital Programmes including our Inspiration Sessions, Young Leaders Dinners, as well as our recently launched HR Professionals Forum.

Welcome to Cape Town creates a lively networking environment for those new to the city to engage with other newly relocated senior professionals. As these engagements are more about building social networks, they incorporate elements such as a dynamic food and wine pairing session and live music. Sponsored by Old Mutual, our inaugural event was hosted on 22 June at The Vue Sky Bar and Savarion Arendse, Provincial Marketing Manager and Development, of Old Mutual said:

“Attraction and retention of talent is a real issue for businesses in Cape Town. Accelerate Cape Town’s Welcome to Cape Town initiative not only showcases what the city has to offer, but it is a winning formula for helping young professionals build a social support network – this is vital in the life of any young professional. This programme adds a great amount of business value and is, in fact, a much needed intervention”.

This will be an ongoing part of our Human Capital Programme to ensure that Accelerate Cape Town supports our members to help their staff settle in Cape Town and remain a part of our region’s economic growth and development.

“It is always daunting to meet new people in a new city, but the Welcome to Cape Town initiative provided the opportunity to create functional networks with other professionals who chose the Western Cape as their new home. eNkos’ kakhulu Accelerate Cape Town!” Alice Mthimkhulu, Talent and Transformation Manager, Deloitte.
