Western Cape 2012 Exports and Biggest Markets

  • Western Cape exports in 2012 totalled R92.55 billion which is 21.09% of GDP
  • Exports are 69.8% products and 30.2% services which contribute 8.4% of national goods exports and 22.5% of national services exports
  • Five sectors account for 67.7% of exports – Food and Beverage (17.3%), Agriculture (17.0%), Petroleum and Chemicals (15.5%), Metals and Machinery (10.3%) and Business Services (7.7%)
  • Our biggest product export market is Europe accounting for 35.86% of exports and Agriculture and Food and Beverage accounting for 23.55% to this market
