Our Inspiration Sessions aim to give young professionals a network of aspirational peers and are part of Accelerate Cape Town’s aim of attracting and retaining talent in Cape Town. This final Inspiration Session of 2013 sponsored by Allan Gray, featured Delphine Govender, investment management specialist and founder of Perpetua Investments.
Delphine started her career at Deloitte in Kwazulu Natal and after completing her articles, she decided on a career in asset management. With Cape Town as the known hub of asset management in South Africa, if not Africa, this was where she moved to. This was one of the first critical decisions that Delphine made about her career and was the focus of her talk.
Speaking little about her role in founding Perpetua, Delphine focused on the important decisions that we all have to make along our career paths and that researching and attributing personal value to perceived outcomes would influence your decisions. After moving to Cape Town, Delphine spent many years working for Allan Gray before starting her own business in 2012.
The focus of her talk resonated with the audience resulting in many questions around career and exit strategies, challenges as a black female, and how JSE growth can translate into economic inclusion.
